CHOICE OF NO DIALOGUE

Originally, our trailer was going to include some dialogue in the party scene and also between
Oli and Luke when the meet, with Oli inviting Luke to meet his friends. However with further thought we decided to try and create the trailer with no dialogue as we believed that it would draw more focus to the acting and body language between the two main characters. This idea then seemed even more plausible when we started our first lot of editing as in the party scene there was a lot of background, as there were many other people on set and other various noises, and when watching the footage back, it was apparent that due to our clear directing of the actors, their body language demonstrated the narrative clear enough.
When filming the other scene that we thought about having dialogue in, we were already pretty certain on having no conversation between them, and our decision was then further supported as when we tried it, we found that because of the lack of acting experience between the two characters it looked awkward and unnatural and we were therefore worried that it would break the emotional connection that had been created onscreen.
Finally, we realized that we had made the correct decision when we added in our chosen song, 'Let me love you' by Coasts, as it really enhanced the piece and created an atmosphere which left no need fro dialogue between them.
