KIDS TRAILER FROM 1995
1. The shot shows a group of young boys hanging out together laughing and chatting. It can be said that from this shot the trailer tells us about the age group that the film is based around, and also that they may be from a slightly lower class, due to their lack of clothes, however this can not be confirmed from this shot due to how close up it is, meaning their isn't any indication of location.
2. This shows two young males sat outside a building on steps, hiding their alcohol which they are drinking by putting it in paper bags, indicating to us that it is set in America. From there dress and what they are wearing we have an indication that they are from a lower class, and from their behavior this can tell us that this is more of a social realism piece.
3. From this shot we can see that two girls are skinny dipping, which can be seen to be a rebellious act, which then adds emphasis to the audience that there is a focus on a group of teenagers, who are being shown in the stereotypical form, that they cause trouble. Like most of the other shots it is a close us which also indicates to us that this can also be a teen drama as the close ups allow us to pick the emotions from the characters which are crucial to the plot line.
4. A young boy is shown to be smoking which may to be an illegal substance with a group of people. From now comparing this shot to the others we can see that the group of teenagers which the trailer appears to be about, consists of a variety of races and ethnicity's, giving the impression to the audience that this is set in a more urban area or city, where this is more likely to happen.
5. Shot 5 again is similar and connotes the same as shot 4 ^
6. Shot 6 explores different lighting, showing the audience that there is a scene from a party or nightclub, which is again is following the stereotypes of teenagers, as it is conveying that there is underage drinking/drug taking. Again the shot is centered around just the girl and not a lot else can be seen in the frame, meaning that there is an emphasis on her as a character.
7. The title screen shows us the that the title is Kids which supports the behavior and mise-en-scene, that this piece follows the life of teenagers, so therefore can be seen to be a teenage drama as well as a social realism piece.
8. The young boy is shown jumping the ticket barriers in a tube station, once again enforcing the stereotypical behavior of a teenager. However this is also indicates to us that the piece is centered around the lower class, due to the lack of class associated with public transport.
9. Finally the last shot, which is similar to the first, shows a young boy with graffiti in the background, conveying that again the piece is centered around the lower class.
