Through research I have found that the iconic sounds of the genres differ and that in the romance genre the music is fitted to match and put emphasis on the emotion of the characters. However, in the social realism genre it is used more to enhance the location and setting.

- Traffic
- City sounds
- Airplanes
These sounds are particularly essential to the social realism genre as they make the piece more realistic and relateable to the audience.
- Large amounts of dialogue
- Dietetic sounds from every day items
- Inspirational music during the positive climax of the film
- Music that fits with the social class, e.g. hip hop rap can be more associated with urban cities
